Molecular Testing for COVID-19

Quality surface testing is essential to contain and control the spread of COVID-19 in businesses and other public areas.

At Allometrics, we are committed to helping our clients maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in these uncertain times. For this reason, we’ve added Molecular Testing for COVID-19 to our list of capabilities.

What is the difference between Molecular testing
and Surrogate testing?

Molecular testing is a test explicitly conducted for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). Surrogate testing will provide a list of Bacterial and Viral organisms that are present on surfaces that can harbor the ideal condition for growth or exposure, but not specifically for COVID-19.

Why It’s Important to use both tests and not just perform the Molecular analysis?

Even though Molecular testing will provide testing specifically for COVID-19, there could be other viruses or bacteria present.

Surrogate testing will offer further insight into any additional organisms or bacteria that can be harmful to human health.

The concept behind Surrogate testing is to determine if conditions are ideal for bacterial and virus growth. If that is the case, then the chances of exposing yourself to COVID-19 are that much higher.

Why is the Molecular test needed?

The test provides peace of mind that areas that are considered clean do comply with the cleanliness guidelines established, and the area is safe for public use.

The test can offer relief by determining if your cleaning team has completely eradicated or minimized the exposure and presence of harmful organisms on a given surface.

Additionally, as the nation moves forward with loosening restrictions as a means to reactivate the economy, evidence that communal and public areas are taking all necessary precautions will be required. Therefore, showing proof of testing may become necessary with public safety in mind.

Who should perform these types of tests?

Both Molecular testings for COVID-19 and Surrogate surface samplings are recommended for any entity that has shared public areas that can be of concern, including hotels, restaurants, conference halls, and schools.

How is testing done?

Testing is done via Test Tube Swab for Molecular Testing (PCR) for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)

How many tests will I need to perform?

The World Health Organization (WHO) has not provided a minimum requirement for surface sampling, but they do encourage facilities to take and repeat testing, as necessary.

What if the lab results come back positive for COVID-19?

If the results of the Molecular testing are positive for COVID-19, it’s essential to remain calm; there is no need to panic.

A positive test result just means that your cleaning procedures need to be more robust, and your staff will need additional training on ways to minimize and prevent exposure.

We recommend you follow the cleaning agents recommended by the CDC.

How often should I test?

We recommend testing at least two to three instances, over a duration of time, following your routine cleaning procedures and timeline. This will allow you to set a safe guideline and pattern of cleaning.

What kind of results will I receive from the lab?

You can expect a result of “Presence” or “No-presence” for Molecular testing.  If you would like a sample Viable report, please contact one of our Customer Service Reps.

Who can perform testing?

We highly recommend technicians and trained personnel to be the ones conducting the test. However, at Allometrics, Inc., we also provide video training and needed assistance if the customer prefers to use a mail-in kit, instead of a technician.

How Fast Can Allometrics Conduct the Molecular Testing for COVID-19?

We make every effort to conduct the test in as short a time frame as possible; however, given that the test tubes used to conduct the test for COVID-19 are in high demand, we will need a  few days to acquire the supplies and schedule the testing.

What’s the Turnaround?

Testing is processed through a third-party, and turnaround times run from 24 hours to four days. Faster turnarounds have an additional cost. For more information concerning turnaround times and cost, please contact us.
